Questions and answers
What we do and what we don't
Tap a question to see the answer.
What does this program not do?
We do not provide legal opinions. Questions such as patentability, copyright ownership or the scope of trade secrets belong to attorneys and patent attorneys and are outside this program. We also do not advise on academic admissions. Our work goes as far as helping you actually build what you want to build and diagnosing it against an investor’s criteria.
How is this different from a hagwon (Korean private academy)?
A hagwon delivers set content to many people in the same order and charges each of them a fee. This is an advisory service: we diagnose and review one participant’s project and deliver defined outputs. There are no set materials and no sessions everyone attends together. All advisory is one-on-one, and what we cover differs for each participant.
Do participants meet as a group?
No. There is no regular group schedule. Each participant books advisory sessions individually, and the only time everyone gathers is the final Demo Day.
Who can apply?
Anyone of upper-secondary age or older can apply. We look at whether you have something you want to build and whether you can present your ideas in English. Age and institutional affiliation are not selection criteria.
Can minors take part?
Yes. The contract is signed with a parent or guardian, and the participant is named as the person receiving advisory. Consultations are also held with the parent or guardian.
How long does it take, and how does it work?
The standard length is eight weeks, following seven milestones. Pace differs by participant, so the schedule is set individually. Advisory takes place in person or online.
What is the fee?
It is a startup advisory service fee, invoiced in installments at contract signing, at the interim review and at delivery of the outputs. VAT is charged separately and a tax invoice is issued. We share the specific amount and terms during consultation.
What happens if I stop partway through?
Fees for outputs already delivered and accepted are excluded from settlement, and the amount for work not yet started is refunded. Each output carries a set share of the fee, so the settlement basis is clear.
Do you review patents or rights issues?
No. Judgments such as whether something is patentable or who owns the copyright are legal services and are not provided in this program. If you need them, you should consult a patent attorney or lawyer directly; we take no part in that judgment.
Who owns what I build?
You do, entirely. All rights to everything produced in the program belong to the participant, as stated in the contract. The company is bound by confidentiality regarding participants’ ideas.
What is the company’s role?
A consultant. Our role is to help you build it yourself; we do not build it for you. You also decide what to build. We point the way when you get stuck and diagnose what you built against an investor’s criteria.
Who creates the deliverables?
The participant creates the business plan and the working product (MVP). The company reviews them and gives feedback; it does not build them for you. The company writes the diagnostic report and the investor-perspective feedback, and these two are documents that assess the participant, not work produced by the participant. Each output is delivered with a statement of who wrote it.
Where does it take place?
Both online and in person. In-person sessions are held at a startup incubation center near Chungmuro Station (Lines 3 and 4), a space where operating startups work. Since advisory is one-on-one, you can choose either option during consultation.
Can I take part if I live outside Korea?
Yes. All eight weeks can be completed online. Because advisory is one-on-one, sessions can be scheduled around time zones, and if you spend time in Korea, those weeks can switch to in person.
